Cascias We have settled to a static life in Cascais having been here over a month. As mentioned in our last blog we could not get a berth in central Lisbon as these marinas are very busy and apparently completely full. Cascais is about 10 miles west of the city with a train every half hour. Having been here a few weeks now we think that Cascais is probably a better location for us anyway. Engine problems at sea

Plans change when sailing.  We had originally planned to go to the Algarve for the winter but over the last few weeks we were looking at our options and felt that it would be more interesting to stay in the Lisbon area. We tried to find a berth for the boat in Central Lisbon but it is virtually impossible to find somewhere to stay in the marinas along the river Tagus. We will be staying at Cascais over the winter. October in Portugal

The last two weeks have seen us make good progress south along the Portuguese Coast. We have enjoyed the warm autumn days and calm seas (as is typical we are never totally happy and would have liked slightly more but not too much wind.) We have had dolphins come along and swim alongside on a number of trips along this part of the coast. We sailed from Figueira da Foz in the company of two Danish yachts, you can see one of them in the photos.
