Living by Winds and Tides

A lot has happened since our last blog. We are learning to live our life around the weather and the tides, plans need to be made to fit in with the elements. We never got to Weymouth as the weather was not right to guarantee a comfortable return trip to Poole for Easter so we went directly from Lymington to Poole. We were meeting up with friends in Poole over the Easter Weekend and preparing to cross the Channel to Cherbourg if the weather was suitable. Sailing or Laundry?

Can’t really believe it but is three weeks now since we last posted on our site. We have spent the last three weeks sailing around the Western Solent. We planned to move on today and sail for Weymouth but there are strong wind warnings in force and we decided to stay put, we are currently in Lymington. If the wind subsides as the forecast suggests we will head for Weymouth or Poole tomorrow. All Journeys start with a small step

We have now been on the boat for nearly a month, for the first two weeks, we were not able to get out sailing as we have had high winds for the last two weeks. We have seen winds over 40 knots measured by our masthead wind speed indicator whilst still in the marina. This time was used to carry out many maintenance tasks including replacing the cooker before the old one poisoned us (it was giving off high levels of Carbon Monoxide. ) We have now sold our car so really are ready to start properly.
