Moving on Board

Now the adventure starts properly. We have already spent quite a few nights on board Island Girl over the winter including some very cold nights with ice inside the hatches but is now time to make a permanent move and hopefully, the weather is going to get warmer over the next few months. We have cleared the house and cleaned and scrubbed it and are ready to move out and for a tenant to move in. Our first sail

In January we have really started to get ready for our adventure, Judith has stopped working now and we are busy clearing the house and preparing to move on to Island Girl in March. We have still found time to go down to Gosport and we have to take the boat to get the mast removed in preparation for the standing rigging (the wires that hold the mast up ) to be replaced. Christmas is Coming

Christmas is coming and one boat at the marina seems to have got into the Christmas Spirit (not ours just in case you are wondering).  Christmas at Haslar Marina We have now had Island Girl just over a month so some of you might be wondering how we are getting on. We have spent about  10 nights on the boat over the last seven weeks cleaning, carrying out small maintenance jobs and getting quotes for some of the larger jobs.  We have not yet been out sailing but we did decide to get a day training on moving the boat around the marina under the engine, the main thing we learnt that the boat needs care when reversing as it takes… Read More
