Can’t really believe it but is three weeks now since we last posted on our site. We have spent the last three weeks sailing around the Western Solent. We planned to move on today and sail for Weymouth but there are strong wind warnings in force and we decided to stay put, we are currently in Lymington. If the wind subsides as the forecast suggests we will head for Weymouth or Poole tomorrow.

Today’s excitement has been visiting the Launderette (again) we still need to wash, clean and shop.

Since our last post, we spent a week in East Cowes. We had some friends from Leamington come over to the Island to see us which was great they also chose a day when the weather was fine and we could have lunch outside.

We spend two nights last week in Newtown Creek. We anchored for the first time overnight. Trusting that you have set the anchor correctly will take a few attempts, we did not drag or move but I woke up every few hours to check, we also have an alarm you set that will detect if we are moving too far. The second day it rained all day and we stayed inside and overnight the wind blew strongly and really tested the anchor.

Newtown Creek is a National Trust nature reserve and is one of the quietest spots on the Solent.

Lymington is a very attractive town with two large marinas, two sailing clubs and a lot of activity on the water including Wightlink ferries passing by twice an hour. We have been moored on the Dan Bran Pontoon named after a local boat builder. this is a short walk from the town.
We have enjoyed Lymington, we have been to a concert and a few services at the Baptist Church, a talk at Lymington Town Sailing club on Cherbourg and crossing the Channel. We also had a visit from our daughter and her husband over the weekend.

We have had a mix of weathers and yes you can see frost on the pontoon in one of the pictures.

We also spent one night in Yarmouth on the Isle of Wight. Found a shop named for our Grandson “Sailor Ted” we had to buy a Sailor Ted book for him, click on the image to find out more about Sailor Ted books.

That’s all for this time, thanks for your interest and your comments.

Thanks for taking time to share your adventures. Photos look great but I’m sure it’s challenging when it’s wet & rainy!

Thanks for the update. Some of the pics look as if you are actually SAILING! We went to Lymington a few years ago but we missed the launderette. Thank you for making it known to us. Our very best wishes and prayers for when you set sail westwards. Mike and Anne
