Arrived in Portugal

The last two weeks have been slow as the weather has been mixed. We have had both glorious sunshine, rain and fog. The winds should be predominately north along this coast at this time of year which would be ideal for us but they have been either non existent or southerly. Progress has been a little slow over the last few weeks, but we are making our way south. We have now reached our first port of call in Portugal and have another new country to explore plus a new language to try and fathom. Stayling

When we last updated you we were just preparing to leave A Coruña and sail around the ‘coast of death’. You will be pleased to see that we have survived this and are now on the Spanish Ria’s this is a very popular area for cruising yachts with many fine beaches and towns. We waited seven days in A Coruña for favourable weather to sail west. We were waiting for the winds to subside and not be gale force. 1000 miles travelled

In the last few weeks we have reached the western end of Biscay and are about to round Cape Finisterre and start heading south. This means that we have travelled about 1000 miles and are over two thirds of our way to southern Portugal. We have had a mix of weather.
